But i'm a riot!
So I'm dancing around in my kitchen listening to That's not my name by the Ting Tings. I don't really have anything to do before work @ 5 and so I thought "hmmmm another binge of Law and Order: SVU or oh wait! I have a blog right??" Honestly i have things I could be doing but nothing that pressing.
As noted in the previous post I have purchased some new music recently. The most recent being Bradley Hathaway's Mouth Full of Dust. Bradley started as a spoken word poet who had some tracks that had musical backgrounds. While on tour in parts of Europe a few years ago he picked up and started playing the guitar. From there it was a matter of time until his new found instrument and vocals showed up i his work. Now out with his second musical album Mouth Full of Dust does not disappoint his fans. I personally enjoy his music for it's lyrical content rather than vocal stylings. Honestly the guy isn't that good of a singer and to people not familiar with him his tunes elicit a facial cringe. This release has a melancholy undertone to it and opens with possibly the saddest single of the album Covered in the Blood. The song covers death, lost love, and loneliness in a single stream of lyrical poetry, with no chorus or repeats to speak of. It begins to climax with the words "it's all over now, it's covered in the blood" then builds to an instrumental climax. At the peak I was taken aback by Bradley's voice launch into the most discomforting scream ever. Maybe it's more of a yell-scream-holler? It began in a momentary void of other sound then the band came back in and he just screamed and yelled for the next 10 "measures" of the song. It was not without rhythm or purpose and it contained tones of native American "drum circle" type wailing.
In it were all the things covered in the song, as if he didn't know what else to do and was so overcome that all he could do was shout to the sky.
I am taken with different emotions every time I hear this part of the song. Mostly though my heart goes out to the guy, and for whatever has caused those kinds of sounds.

P.S. I meant to post this before I went to work but I guess I didn't. Now posting it at like 2 AM Central time.
